Hotels & accommodation (5/10):I expected to find really cheap hotels in Odessa, but hotelrates are actually close to western europe. I had to settle for a 1 star hotel paying $45 a night. Hotel standard isnt bad, its just a lot more expensive then what you would expect from a city in Ukraine.
Places to eat (6/10): I'm not a huge fan of eastern european food, but its no problem finding international food in Odessa. There are some excellent Italian resturants. If you are on a tight budget McDonalds in Ukraine is really cheap.
Beach (7/10):There are many beaches around Odessa. The best in my opinion is called Delphin Beach. It got fine sand and warm clean water.
Shopping (8/10):Shopping in Odessa is lots of fun. You'll find all the latest fashions from the big fashion houses. You can buy beautiful and really cheap handycraft and art on the local bazaars, and you can find pirated cd and dvd sold from street stalls. And its all very cheap.
Local culture & people (7/10): Service in Odessa isnt quit what im used to comming from western europe. But the people you meet that are not trying to sell you something are very polite. As for the culture Odessa has a lot of historic places and buildings.
Activities & Attractions (9/10):There are many really good museums in the city, and really good classical music in the theaters (top class) For lighter entertainment theres an amusment park and a zoo worth visiting. Many historic buildings.
Nightlife (9/10):Excellent nightlife, many nightclubs and bars stay open 24 hours a day. Drinking is very cheap, and the girls from Ukraine are very nice :)
Summary:A beach holiday in former soviet. Its different, in a good way. I'll reccommend it.
